Vaccine Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Vaccine Coordinator with transporting vaccines between sites, maintaining inventory and data collection for all adult vaccine units, including pharmacy, pharmacy benefits, and MAT, conducting regular audits of the adult and vaccine units, and developing materials for clinical staff including best practices and educational material concerning new injectable products.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate's degree or relevant experience in a health-related field, population health, or quality assurance.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a health-related field.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
- Experience with an EMR; Intermediate proficiency level with Outlook, Word and Excel
- Excellent telephone skills
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of state required immunizations, VFC and 317 program, and ACIP recommended vaccines
- Organized and detailed orientated
Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: CPR Certification
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Knowledgeable of vaccine practices including storage and handling, vaccine transportation, and ACIP recommended vaccines for the adult population.
- Assist with transporting vaccines and ancillary supplies to various Affinia Healthcare sites.
- Monitor the storage of vaccines, inventory on hand, temperature logs, and other regular maintenance activities associated with adult medicine for all Affinia locations.
- Assist with auditing vaccine documentation in Next Gen and providing subsequent training for individuals needing additional support.
- Responsible for entering data into NextGen pertaining to lot numbers and expiration dates for all adult vaccines.
- Maintain the IQSMV report.
- Contact and schedule appointments for established patients (adults and children), who are not up to date on their immunizations and reconcile records to promote data integrity.
- Provide staff education on new vaccination products or best practices regarding vaccine administration and documentation.
- Collect and analyze data pertaining to vaccine usage.
- Provide technical support for all excursions, including transporting vaccines as necessary during emergency or planned power outages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions:
- Attend meetings, as assigned
- Assists with developing appropriate education materials for different audiences.
- In the absence of the Vaccine Coordinator, the Vaccine Assistant takes on all roles and responsibilities of the Vaccine Coordinator unless otherwise delegated by the Vaccine Coordinator or other member of senior leadership.
