Registration Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:   Responsible for all patient registration and eligibility functions at multiple locations.  The manager has primary responsibility to optimize the registration process to increase patient satisfaction and support the revenue cycle.  The manager establishes and maintains ongoing processes and procedures that allow for the accurate, complete and timely verification of patient information.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Requires Associates degree.  Bachelors preferred.

Experience:  Requires 2 years of progressive patient registration experience. 3-5 years management experience.

Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of Third Party, commercial insurance for medical, dental, and behavioral health, Medicare and Medicaid payers.
  2. Good computer skills including the use of electronic medical record and practice management system (NextGen).
  3. Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  4. Ability to use initiative and be flexible.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills.
  6. Good organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work flexible hours which may include working weekends to provide adequate coverage.
  8. Understanding of organizational policies, procedures and external governmental agencies.

 

Transportation Requirement: Possession of a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Must complete training and become certified application counselor for healthcare marketplace insurance.

Essential Functions

  1. Monitor and maintain patient flow.
  2. Supervise the Patient Registration staff; which includes tracking attendance, completing performance appraisals, and assisting with the interviewing of new staff.
  3. Fill in for staffing shortages, vacations, illness, etc.
  4. Respond to staff's questions regarding sliding fee, Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial medical and dental plans.
  5. Complete periodicaudits on patient demographics including Uniform Data System requirements and proof of income requirements.
  6. Assist with training of Patient Registration staff to include clerical duties, patient flow, and technical functions.
  7. Perform procedures for fee assessment and collection per financial policy.
  8. Maintain supply inventory for clinics.
  9. Monitor all daily assignments of the registration staff to ensure accuracy and
  10. Ensure all receipts are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
  11. Responsible for registration processes at each clinic to include any needed re-design and implementation.
  12. Keep Department Director abreast of all issues that need to be addressed.
  13. Maintain a positive work relationship with health center team, which includes nurses, managers, and providers.
  14. Work closely with appointment call center and billing staff as part of the revenue cycle.
  15. Maintain a positive team approach.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions

  1. Complete or assist patients in completing necessary forms: recognize potential for and inquire about possible third party coverage.
  2. Assist with and understand patient appointment templates.
