Human Resources Generalist
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists with recruitment, hiring, onboarding functions, and staffing needs. Supports and administers various human resources plans, procedures, and functions such as benefits, employee relations, and employee activities. Performs research analysis and develops reports related to areas of responsibility. Provides support with record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, etc.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate Degree required in Human Resources or related field. Bachelor's Degree preferred or any combination of education and training.
Experience:
- Three (3) to Five (5) years HR experience in a generalist capacity
- One (1) year experience with an HRIS database.
- One (1) year experience with Microsoft Office.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
- High level oral and written communication skills, along with strong computer skills.
- Ability to be detail oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of HR.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of human resource information and applicant tracking systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including preparation of meaningful narrative reports and proposals.
- Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.
License(s)/Certification(s): PHR preferred
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Assist with recruitment, hiring and new hire orientation, which includes, but not limited to the following:
- Completing qualified candidate applicant telephone interviews, scheduling interviews, etc.
- Ensures background checks, criminal history, education and licensure verification, references and drug and nicotine tests are conducted prior to hiring.
- Setting-up the conference room for new hire orientation.
- Assist with developing and providing materials for new hire orientation, as well as instruct.
- Ensures management checklist are handled.
- Scan and attach documents to electronic personnel file.
- Responsible for assisting with onboarding and training of temporary employees and volunteers. Assist with processing medical and other students precepting at Affinia Healthcare locations.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Provide support with handling terminations, performance reviews, and complaints.
- Maintain monthly phone directory.
- Assist in developing and revising organization personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintain records required by law or local governing bodies.
- Manage routine correspondence and requests for personnel information.
- Enters data into HRIS as required and ensures accurate recordkeeping.
- Produce reports from database as needed.
- Assist in maintaining employee files.
- Assist in educating employees and enforcing organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned (filing, typing, copy etc.).
Marginal Functions:
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Participates on committees and special projects as needed.
Supervises: None.
