Dentist

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to diagnose, and treatment of the patients, concerning dental health, with consideration to the entire health of each individual.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

•  Eligible to receive Missouri and Illinois Medicaid Vendor Status.
• Preference given to experience in an urban community health setting.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry.

Experience:  One (1) year experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities 

• Self-motivated individual who requires little supervision.
• Ability to deal with stress.
• Good communication and interpretative skills.
• Ability to concentrate on numerous tasks at once, with multiple interruptions.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Licensed as a Dentist in the State of Missouri; Federal and State drug license eligible.

Essential Functions

• Provides dental patient care, and conduct Dental Clinic Sessions.
• Performs general dental treatment, including minor dental surgery.
• Renders care consistent with principle of practice and in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
• Provides telephones consultation with dental patients.
• Participates in emergency on - call service for dental patients.
• Participates in record audit, quality assurance record reviews, and staff meetings.
• Maintains productivity and quality standards established by Federal guidelines, Affinia Healthcare Dental Advisory Board.
• Attends and participate in Dental Advisory Board Meetings.
• Participates in Developing / updating of dental protocols.
• Attends continuing education programs to maintain licensure.
• Participates in in-service education programs.
• Refers to and consult with other men of Primary Care Staff team.
• Promotes preventive oral hygiene care within the community.
• Supervises dental assistants and dental hygiene students.
• Maintains OSHA and Universal precautions standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions

• Prepares authorization form for third party billing.
• Pours and trim models, polish dentures and particles, prepare temporary crowns.
