Dentist - Urgent Care

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to diagnose, and treatment of the patients, concerning dental health, with consideration to the entire health of each individual. Be able to function as adjunct faculty and direct students in their urgent care rotation.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Eligible to receive Missouri and Illinois Medicaid Vendor Status.

- Preference given to experience in an urban community health setting.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry.

Experience: One (1) year experience preferred.

Residency and Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Licensed as a Dentist in the State of Missouri; Federal and State drug license eligible.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

1. Provides dental patient care, and conduct Dental Clinic Sessions.
2. Performs general dental treatment, including dental surgery.
3. Renders care consistent with principle of practice and in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
4. Provides telephones consultation with dental patients.
5. Participates in emergency on - call service for dental patients.
6. Participates in record audit, quality assurance record reviews, and staff meetings.
7. Maintains productivity and quality standards established by Federal guidelines, Affinia Healthcare Dental Advisory Board.
8. Attends and participate in Dental Advisory Board Meetings.
9. Participates in developing /updating of dental protocols.
10. Attends continuing education programs to maintain licensure.
11. Participates in in-service education programs.
12. Promotes preventive oral hygiene care within the community.
13. Maintains OSHA and Universal precautions standards.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
15. Provide clinical instruction to students in topics including, but not limited to patient assessment, diagnosis, triage, definitive and palliative treatments, evidence based medication prescribing, and referral practices (including transfer of care for patients with problem-focused needs).
16. Assess student performance during patient care in urgent care setting, including grading of essential experiences. This includes overseeing student compliance with clinical protocols.
17. Be able to work as a team leader, closely with MOSDOH Urgent Care Director (e.g. Includes developing protocols to support UC workflow and quality. Participate in faculty calibrations and team meetings)
18. Support joint mission of MOSDOH and Affinia to provide access to care for UC patients and ER diversion (e.g. BJC Hospital affiliation).

Marginal Functions

1. Prepares authorization form for third party billing.
2. Pours and trim models, polish dentures and particles, prepare temporary crowns.

Supervises: Dental assistants and dental students.
