Communications Designer

POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Designer will be responsible for the creation of the monthly newsletter and additional marketing materials. They will also support the development of brand guidelines to refine the visual identity of Affinia Healthcare. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the organization's website and supporting the Development Office and Affinia Healthcare Foundation activities such as data entry and written narratives.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field, preferred

Experience: Two (2) years in graphic design, communications, or related field. Two (2) years managing routine publications. Database management experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

1. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
2. Strong visual communication skills.
3. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite products, web design platforms, word processing, spreadsheet and email.
4. Strong visual branding skills.
5. Ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline.
6. Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision.
7. Attention to detail and ability to edit and proofread.
8. Photography and video editing skills are a plus.
9. Openness to continuing learning and upgrading skills.

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

License and Certification(s) Required: None Required.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

1. Create the monthly newsletter, the 'Nightingale' for a readership comprised of staff, contractors, volunteers, donors, and key individuals in the community and healthcare sector.
2. Create print material including signs, flyers and brochures for programs and events across the organization, as well as the Annual Report to the Community.
3. Create digital material for the website and social media.
4. Update and maintain the website using a web design platform.
5. Assist the VP of Development and Community Relations with grant research and data entry.
6. Write narratives for grant opportunities, fundraising materials and other communications.
7. Continually support development of branding guidelines to ensure Affinia Healthcare maintains a consistent appearance in all visual and written communications.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions: Build working relationships with managers in other departments to make promotional material for their events and services. Photograph various events and programs.
