Assistant Vice President of Community Safety and Security

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing, directing, and executing strategies, programs and actions designed to promote workplace and community safety and security. Leads comprehensive violence prevention efforts, including establishing and maintaining collaborations with key community partners.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10-year law enforcement experience with a minimum of 3 years at Command level or five years at a supervisory level
• Minimum of five years of community policing experience
• Significant community engagement and violence prevention experience

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

1. Knowledge of current trends in law enforcement and de-escalation techniques
2. Ability to communicate and partner with local law enforcement and violence prevention partners
3. Knowledge of asset security, building and ground security systems, and safety and security systems
4. Must possess initiative, flexibility, and good organizational skills.
5. Must possess the ability to make informed decisions, in a timely manner.
6. Must possess a thorough understanding of the principles of physical and personal security, fire prevention, key control, personal and job safety, and emergency first aid.
7. Must possess excellent computer skills including the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and call center phone systems and related tools.
8. Must possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
9. Must possess good telephone and customer service skills.

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

1. Must possess Current Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification (POST)
2. Must possess CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) certification

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

1. Provides operational leadership of the security department and leads community violence prevention initiatives.
2. Responsible for the review and development of security policies and procedures including oversight of emergency preparedness.
3. Responsible for the development of, and assist with, security staff training and education.
4. Provides subject matter expertise regarding workplace and community safety strategies.
5. In collaboration with the Director of Risk Management, facilitates, coordinates, and drafts annual workplace and community safety risk assessments with recommendations for program enhancements.
6. Reviews reports, investigates causation, and provides recommendations.
7. Provides leadership and direction, and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and responding to any workplace safety concern.
8. Develop and conduct community and staff education on safety issues.
9. Maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and law enforcement to promote safety and security.
10. Provides assistance as needed to patients, clients, employees, and visitors.
11. Assists police with investigations, as appropriate.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions: Serve as back up in the absence of the Security Director.
